Structure of Uganda Village Project

Governance: The organization is governed by the group of officers who make up the Executive Board, who all work on a voluntary basis. There are a group of trustees who are Uganda Village Project alumni working to support the activities of our organization. Please see the Executive Board page for more information.

Projects: Our main areas of focus are healthcare (with special attention to HIV/AIDS, obstetric fistula, and eyesight), orphan support, and clean water. We are working on a year-round basis with Ugandan partners to support specific projects in these areas. Our in-country program manager is responsible for the most important aspects of our work in Uganda – maintaining the quality of the programs on a continuous basis, and ensuring that we adhere to our values and mission statements in the execution of our projects. The work of the program manager is supplemented by teams of summer volunteers, and supported by the officers of the organization. Please see the links from this website for more information on our specific projects, how you can help, and what volunteering opportunities are currently available.

The Village Concept Model

The “Village Concept Project” model was designed in collaboration with the World Health Organization in 1986, whereby medical students and professionals form an international partnership with students and professionals in a developing country and work to assist a given community over time.  This model has been successfully applied in Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda, amongst other countries. Village Concept Projects can be found from our links page. For more information on our guiding principles, please see our Mission, Vision, and Goals page.
