(PADI)

Uganda Village Project has partnered with PADI, a non-governmental organization which not only runs a community health center, but also works to improve community health through programs focusing on sanitation, malaria control, and nutrition.

PADI provides health services to a large rural catchment area in the Iganga District. They treat common infectious diseases such as intestinal worms, sexually transmitted infections, and malaria, as well as providing obstetric services to the women in the area. Unfortunately, the PADI health center has no physician to staff it, and it continually suffers from inadequate supplies of even such materials as gloves, syringes, and bandages. PADI helps participants in Uganda Village Project to gain knowledge of infectious diseases and healthcare in a resource-limited setting, and Uganda Village Project is working with PADI to identify ways to improve their service delivery and identify sources to keep all supplies in stock.
