Field Officer Positions

UVP is dedicated to Listening, Observing, Accompanying and Integrating life with our partners in Iganga in order to create and promote innovative approaches to development. However, our work is always evaluated against and informed by the following questions:
1. Is this empowering for people on the grassroots level?
2. How can it be more so?
3. Is it sustainable?
4. How can it be more so?

UVP accepts qualified individuals for field officer positions on a rolling basis to assist with our growing organization and program support. The positions will be variable in timeframe based on applicant availability and program needs. These positions are voluntary, are available on a rolling basis and will entail working in the following areas:

1. Rural Water Sources / Safe Water – Oversee the expansion of shallow well construction as well as monitoring and assessment of previously constructed wells. (1 month – 6 months)

2. Maternal and Neonatal Health - Perform tasks related to our maternal health work such as education and awareness-raising, and follow up with community health workers who are working to improve maternal mortality in the District. (1 month – 3 months)

Qualifications

- Deep-seated commitment to solidarity and sustainability marked by a passionate dedication to serve alongside those who are most marginalized in our world
– Patience, adaptability, steadfastness, and the ability to effectively compromise
– Strong interpersonal skills, cultural competency and humility
– Thorough and creative problem solving skills
– Educational experience relevant to the needs of the position
– Experience as an educator, community organizer or comparable positions
– Work history in Africa a plus (in Uganda preferable)
– English fluency including strong writing skills
– Understanding of basic accounting
– Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic web design software

Uganda Village Project will provide the field officers with the following:

- Funds to cover all program-related costs
– Transport to and from Entebbe airport
– Lodging will be available at the UVP office at a variable rate depending on length of stay. Utilities (water and electricity) and food are separate costs to be covered by the field officer.
